brotherly love and all of that

You know the amazing company called Living Social, right? They are in cities all over the world and the send out daily emails with amazing deals ranging from restaurants, to hair/nail salons, to fun adventures and nearly anything you can think of. I've bought certificates to stationary stores, clothing stores, restaurants, nails, etc. Usually they are at least 50% off the price. Example- last week, I paid $25 for a parafin mani AND pedi at a local nail salon. Whats not to love about that?! Exactly. Nothing. It's amazing.
I get emails for Baltimore and Richmond too, since they aren't too far away, and this morning, I signed up for Philadelphia, which is really only about two hours away, same distance as Richmond! Today's daily deal in Philly was this- wine and dinner for two at GiGi restaurant in downtown Philly. This restaurant is owned by Stephenie LaGrossa, who was on Survivor three times. I'm such a dork, but I love Survivor and she was one of my favorites of all of the seasons that I've watched, which is most of them! I'm sure she isn't there often, but I'd love to see her there! I thought this was too good a deal to pass up, and I've been wanting to take a little road trip to Philly anyway. I've really only been there once, in college, for like four hours (long story, maybe I'll tell you another day), and there is so much to see there! In fact, my crazy boyfriend drove to Philly last night because Donald Rumsfeld was doing a book signing there! He left at 4pm and was home at 11pm! Yes, he's insane.
I'm excited about this though, and yes, I know I am insane too :)
Is Living Social (or its competitor Groupon) in your city? What deals have you bought?

preptastic!

Have you read the new book, True Prep, by Lisa Birnbach, the author of The Official Preppy Handbook? Just saw this and thought it was cute.
I've been to a few of these, though not all. Guess I should try to hit them all?
Funny, my father is a big fan of The Tombs (a bar in Georgetown). Also, Steve is intrigued by Smith Point. Neither of us have been, but he wants to go. I keep telling him that he will hate it...he's not the preppy type :)

here we go again

I'm not a huge tv watcher, though from time to time, I get really into a show. Last time this happened, last spring or so, I discovered the amazingness that is How I Met Your Mother and I haven't looked back. I've gotten Steve into it too!

Over the weekend, USA had a marathon of Law and Order: SVU on. I watched many episodes and tivoed the rest, watching them later (much to Steve's chagrin!), and now I am hooked. I just added seasons 1-10 to met netflix queue. I will also admit that I read the wiki article. I had no idea that it had been on for so many years! I will also admit, that I was pleased to see that my boyfriend Fred Savage (love him!) was a guest in season four, though I was not so pleased to read that he played the role of a serial rapist. I don't think Kevin Arnold would do that!

Do you watch this show? What is your latest tv obsession?

I do love my brother (despite what Liz thinks)

This past weekend was the second annual holiday cookie swap. The lovely Liz posted a funny story about yours truly, from a conversation that happened there. Go read it, then come back here. I'm a bit goofy, but you already knew that!

For the record, I love my brother! He's fine. His car isn't fine, but he is, and so is his girlfriend, who was in the very mangled car with him. It wasn't as though I wasn't concerned about him; of course I was. My family seems to have a slight round-about way of relaying information to one another, so my mother told me towards the end of our phone conversation. Judging by her tone, it wasn't super serious, so I told the story in a light-hearted way. If it were serious, she would have called as soon as she found out. You know what I mean, right?

Oh, and I do adore Veggie Tales. If you don't know their 8 Polish Foods of Christmas, you are seriously missing out :)

conversations from the weekend

While in the great New England this weekend, I stayed with my sister Saturday night. She's in Quincy, just outside of Boston. It made sense, since I had to be in Fall River, MA Sunday morning at 10am for the bridal shower. I was late for the shower because I got lost, but that is another story.

I arrived in Providence Saturday morning around 11am and immediately drove to get my sister and we then headed north to NH for my mother's birthday. It was supposed to be a surprise, but my sister is a jerk and gave it away. I had wanted to leave home again by 7pm, to be in Quincy by 9am, since I had to get up early, but that didn't happen...it wasn't until close to 9:30 that we left. Ooops. It was around midnight when we finally got to her apartment and we got ready for bed right away. I went to the bathroom to brush teeth and such, and then we had the following conversation-

Lexi (returning to B's room)- "I forgot my toothbrush, so I used yours, okay?"

B- "WHAT!??! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! Why?!?!"

Lexi (confused)- "What's the big deal?! It was only a tiny bit!"

B- "EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!"

Lexi (still confused)- "There is plenty left!"

B- "Wait, what? How is there plenty left?"

Lexi- "Well, I just squeezed a tiny bit..."

B- "Wait, what did you use?"

Lexi- "Some of your toothpaste. I forgot to pack mine."

B- "Phew! Oh! Okay! You said you used my toothbrush!"

Lexi- "Eww! Gross! No!"

B- "hahahaha"

Lexi- "I meant toothpaste!!!"

Hahaha, we cracked ourselves up!

cheerio, love!

My friend Kirsty sent me a package last week. She was in London for the weekend (she's English, lives in the north) and look what she sent! Of course, she did a theme and I am now the proud owner of Union Jack knickers :)
