hair today....

Has anyone tried a Brazilian Keratin treatment for their hair? I've been reading a bit about them and am intrigued. I think it could work well with my hair, but the price makes me hesitate a bit. There is a place in DC that does them and I read the reviews on yelp, and every single review was amazing and got five stars. Still, I'd love more opinions, if possible!

Also, I just made the amazing discovery that there is a Serendipity 3 in DC! Apparently it is in Georgetown, and opened in May! I have no idea how I missed this news! I must go, and soon!

Oh, and remember my giveaway? VA Girl, you're the winner! Please email me (find my email on my profile page) and I will put you in touch with Eileen, in order to claim your prize!

PS. Have you voted for LiLu yet? GO DO IT!!!!

I got a Keratin Treatment done at Ulta a few months ago. It was amazing. Still be warned, that you will have to blow dry your hair to get it straight. It won't air dry straight. It's great because it takes out the frizz in your hair. I loved it, but it is expensive and you will need to use a special shampoo and conditioner. Otherwise the keratin will wash out. At Ulta the shampoo and conditioner I have to buy is 20 dollars a bottle. Which is crazy. Totally worth it for the summertime though.

Ohhh, I heard about this hair treatment. My friend Kelly's SIL did it and loves it. I just hear it is pretty expensive to maintain. Let us know if you end up doing it and what you think!

No advice for you, sorry. I haven't tried it. But I just had to leave a comment that I thought you were talking about something totally different.... LOL! Like I thought you were talking about a treatment for down under, hahaha! Some new Brazilian wax special treatment! Oh well, I must just be projecting my own hair needs into your post. Sorry about that! Hopefully I made you laugh and not gross you out! :)

A Serendipity 3 in Georgetown?!?! Well, you definitely got my attention with that one! I tried to go to the one in New York City in May, but the wait was terrible. I know where I'll be soon! :)

I'm on my second round of a brazillian blow out and i love it. Maybe b/c my hair is more wavy than curly I can get away with just blow drying it with a flat brush and just flat ironing my bangs. It used to take me at least an hour and a half to blow out my hair and flat iron. Now I just let it air dry and do a couple of touch ups with my flat iron. Totally recommend it.

When it comes to the shampoo it just has to be sulfate-free. Sulfate is what stripes your hair of the sealant that keeps your hair straight. Depending on the natural condition of your hair and how often you wash it will depend if you have to buy the fancy shampoo or not. I am using a gentle Dove shampoo and one by loreal that is sulfate free and I am fine.

Let me know if I can answer any specific questions for you. I love my hair.

My mom got it done and I thought it was great (so did she). It is super easy. Can't wash your hair the first 4 days but besides that she could just let it air dry and it looked good. It is expensive though and takes a while to get done. I am actually thinking of getting it done myself. I will let you know :)

I haven't tried the Keratin treatment before. If you do, please share thoughts with us. I'm so jealous that you have a Serendipity 3 in your area. I love cupcakes. However, I'm dieting so this should be a good thing that we do not have one near our house, HA! Hope you are enjoying your summer.
