So it seems that this weeks powerball jackpot is at $109 million. You may have heard that a few weeks ago, a DC resident won the $144 million prize. Turns out, he's an 82 year old widower with ten children and 47 grand and great-grandchildren! What I love the most is this-
The octogenarian has created three trusts: one to educate his heirs, one for their health care and one for philanthropy.
I think that is a really fantastic use of his funds. Personally, I can't even fathom how much money that is and I can't even begin to imagine what I'd do with that much. Sure, there are the obvious; pay bills, travel, help my family, buy a house (or nine!), etc. Of course, I have a few charitiable orgs that I love (World Vision, Room to Read, Humane Society), so I'd certainly help them and a few more. Maybe I'd donate to my high school and college and have them rename the library after me :)
So, what would you do with such a win? Would you run away and hide, never to be heard from again? Do you have special charities that you'd help? Would you become an anonymous do-gooder, helping random people in need?

- I grew up in New England and now I live in Washington, DC where I work for the federal government. I've lived abroad in Luxembourg, Poland and Canada, and would like to live abroad again. I love to travel and fill my passport with stamps. I read a lot and want to build libraries where they don't have any. I have a lot of cookbooks and love using them. I have an adorable godson named Jackson. I also sponsor two little girls through World Vision; six-year old Majlinda in Albania and two-year old Boikokobetso in South Africa. I love cupcakes, poppies, chocolate chip pancakes, peonies, strawberries and deviled eggs. I collect tea towels, teapots, Boleslawiec Polish pottery, vintage sewing supplies, Peter Rabbit books/pieces and Russian babushka nesting dolls. My two favorite childrens books of all time are Miss Rumphius and The Velveteen Rabbit and I would like to write my own books someday. I'm learning to quilt and have become a bit obsessed with buying fabric! I also love red shoes and wear them frequently. Steve, my boyfriend, keeps me sane most days, except for the ones when he's the one making me crazy! All in all, life is good and keeps me on my toes.

I've always dreamed of slipping $100 bills in between the pages of my favorite books at a library for the next intellectually curious patron to find. I guess I could start now, only it would be $1 bills instead of Ben Franklins.
I would buy a fabulous loft here in Chicago and properties elsewhere. Go to Vegas. Hire a trainer and chef. Go shopping and buy everything from Etsy ;)
And my big thing would be to buy huge pieces of land and set up cageless dog rescues all over where pups can just hang out and live safely.
I really don't know... I would def support a few organizations but I'd also have a lot of fun! hehe
so there's this anonymous donor who has been donating millions of dollars to colleges with female presidents only. i'm not sure what i would do with a bunch of money but donating money to a cause indirectly (feminism via female college presidents, of which there are few which is totally the problem) is something i would like to do.
